We’re back and excited to continue our vegan weight loss diet. We are once again changing our lifestyle in order to lose weight and regain our health using plant-based foods.
We recently came across Krocks in the Kitchen on YouTube. Watching their weight loss adventure truly inspired us to restart our weight loss journey and also share it on YouTube.
Who are Krocks in the Kitchen?
Krocks in the Kitchen was created by Brian and Jessica. They are a couple on YouTube following a whole food plant-based diet to lose weight. Having lost a ton of weight on this lifestyle, their YouTube channel shares their adventure for all to see.
Krocks in the Kitchen are incredibly creative with their videos. The topics they touch on are very helpful for those choosing a whole food plant-based diet to regain their health. They have a ton of recipe videos as well as content with topics like tips for switching to a whole food plant-based diet and how they do their weekly salad prep to stay on track.
A New ‘Weight Loss Journey’ Member

I want to thank Krocks in the Kitchen because watching their channel inspired me to go on our Cuban Vegan life channel and share my weight loss struggles and successes along with Ricky.
When we first created Cuban Vegan Life, I was always meant to be a part of it, sharing my weight loss progress too. However, I have to be honest and tell you that I was embarrassed.
Losing weight is a very personal battle and putting yourself out there and being vulnerable for the world to see is not easy. That’s why I have always been proud of Ricky for having the courage to expose himself on camera. I, in turn, was not so brave and limited my YouTube appearances to random flashes of hands and toes. lol
Why We’ve Be Gone So Long
The simple answer is: LIFE. About 2 years ago, Ricky started a new job that had a horrible rotating schedule that changed every week. Needless to say, it threw our lives into chaos.
At first, we had the best of intentions. Although there was nowhere to reheat food at this job, I would prepare peanut butter and jelly sandwiches along with other cold snacks for Ricky to enjoy at work. However, this didn’t last long.
When stress digs its nasty claws into you, will power goes out the window. It’s so easy to want to mitigate that awful feeling with delicious, fatty food. So, on most nights after work, Ricky began passing by fast-food chains after work. This slippery slope led to us stopping our vegan diet and eating the standard American diet once again. And, of course, we started gaining weight again.
Thankfully, Ricky was able to eventually leave this job for a slew of other similarly stressful jobs until recently when he was finally able to fulfill his dream of becoming a full-time equities trader.
Now, we are both in a position where we can dedicate time to this project and we are so excited to be back!
Why Vegan?
Since the beginning of our weight loss journey, we have always aspired to be vegan. The reasons for going vegan are simple:
- We love animals.
- We care about the environment.
- We want to fuel our bodies with the best foods nature has to offer.
Health and Weight Loss Goals
Our number one goal is to get healthy! Also, it’s an amazing feeling being part of the vegan movement which seeks to improve the lives of animals and reduce the environmental impact the food chain has on this planet.
Ricky’s Health Goals
Beside’s getting healthy, Ricky plans to reach his goal weight of 220 pounds. He also hopes to increase his muscle mass with a plant-based diet. For this and other reasons, we plan on incorporating regular exercise into our regime.
Natalie’s Health Goals
My biggest priority is getting my body back into balance. I have PCOS, which is a hormonal disorder with a host of physical and mental symptoms including lack of menstrual cycle or Amenorrhea, weight gain, hair loss, and unwanted facial hair growth.
My goal weight is 130 pounds and my hope is to balance my hormones and finally be able to conceive.
Plans For Cuban Vegan Life
We will be sharing our entire health and weight loss experience with you on YouTube and this blog. We want you to come along on this journey with us.
Also, we plan on sharing new recipes with you. I’ll be recreating our favorite Cuban and Latin dishes with vegan/plant-based ingredients. Our recipes will incorporate both whole food plant-based ingredients and other more processed foods because no one can be perfect all the time.
Our hope is that by sharing both our struggles and successes with you that we will inspire you to make healthy and necessary changes to your life too. We also want you to know that you aren’t alone!
